The 2013 Domaine de Chevalier has a refined bouquet, laid back and languorous with blackberry, briary notes, a touch of bay leaf developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, quite edgy tannin, nicely balanced and fresh with a simple but harmonious finish. It's the kind of 2013 that you'll just enjoy as a fine Claret, leaving you with a smile on your face. This constitutes a very commendable effort in such a challenging vintage, the bottom line being that it is one of the most pleasurable releases in 2013.
Domaine de Chevalier's 2019 Blanc is performing brilliantly, unwinding in the glass with notes of citrus pith, white currants, crisp orchard fruit, spring flowers, lemongrass and beeswax. Medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, it's concentrated and structured, with terrific depth at the core, racy acids and a long, sapid finish. This is a white Bordeaux where the vulgarity of Sauvignon is sublimated rather than emphasized, and the result is a compelling wine of considerable complexity and aging potential.
After fermentation in 500-liter cement tanks, stainless steel vats and barrels, a portion of the 2017 Lune d'Argent was aged in 15% new French oak barrels. The wine was aged on its lees with regular bâtonnages during the six-month aging regimen. The blend is 70% Sémillon and 30% Sauvignon Blanc. It opens with lemonade, spiced apples, lime cordial, fresh grass and grapefruit scents plus wafts of wet pebbles and honeysuckle. Medium-bodied, clean and refreshing, it finishes on a lingering citrusy note.
The 2019 L' Esprit de Chevalier Blanc exhibits notes of citrus zest, white flowers, green apple and wet stones, followed by a medium-bodied, elegantly textural palate that's chalky and precise. This is a fine effort that reflects the quality of Domaine de Chevalier, its big brother. I suspect that with a decade on the clock it will surprise many in a blind tasting.
The 2020 Lune d'Argent offers up vibrant notes of fresh grapefruit, lemon zest and green apples with touches of elderflower and chalk dust. The medium-bodied palate is refreshing and racy with intense citrus flavors and an invigorating finish.
The 2016 L' Esprit de Chevalier Blanc features lemon meringue pie, lime cordial and orange blossoms scents with a touch of fennel seed. Medium-bodied, it fills the palate with mouthwatering citrusy layers, and a touch of savoriness comes through on the finish.

2018 - 2023
The 2016 L'Esprit de Chevalier Blanc offers attractive pithy scents on the nose, fresh pear and a touch of white peach, with a hint of orange blossom. The palate is well balanced with a fine salinity, quite crisp and lightly spiced with veins of lemongrass and sea salt on the lively finish. This is a fine Deuxi?me Vin in a vintage that did not really favor the dry whites.
The 2021 Domaine de Chevalier reveals a deep, complex bouquet with aromas of blackberries and blueberries mingled with spices, cigar wrapper and coniferous forest floor, followed by a medium to full-bodied, sweet and concentrated palate animated by bright acids and framed by fine, powdery tannins. It's an impressive effort that will reward a bit of bottle age.

The 2021 Domaine de Chevalier is full of promise, bursting with aromas of dark berries and plums mingled with loamy soil, bay leaf, licorice, potpourri and spices. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and complete, its velvety attack segues into a lively, layered core, concluding with a long, nicely defined finish. Olivier Bernard doesn't think that this will surpass his 2018, but I tend to disagree. The 2021 is a blend of fully 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

ドメーヌ ド シュヴァリエ ルージュ 2012 Domaine de Chevalier Rouge 2012
Very floral and elegant with raspberry and blackcurrant fruit mixed with toasty oak/vanillin, followed by a medium to full-bodied, stylish, polished wine that is the quintessentially refined style of Pessac-L_ognan. Nevertheless, the complexity and nuance has yet to fully emerge. This medium to full-bodied Domaine de Chevalier is poised for a bright future. It is tight and backward now, as well as restrained aromatically, but everything is there for the future. Forget it for 5-7 years and drink it over the following 30 years.
Another terrific vintage for this wine, the 2020 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc unwinds in the glass with aromas of nectarine, pear, nutmeg, passionflower and hazelnuts. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and seamless, with racy acids and a bright, pure profile, it nips at the heels of the brilliant and somewhat racier, more refined 2019.

ドメーヌ ド シュヴァリエ ルージュ 2014 Domaine de Chevalier Rouge 2014
The 2014 Domaine de Chevalier has a wonderful bouquet with pure blackberry, raspberry coulis and iodine-tinged aromas that seem to envelop the senses. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, superb acidity and a sense of symmetry that is uncommon in the 2014 vintage. This is a sophisticated, precise wine from Olivier Bernard that could be one of top wines of the vintage. There is an approachability to this Domaine de Chevalier, which you do not always find, however I would be inclined to give this 3-4 years in bottle.
