The 2019 Prieure-Lichine is supple and generous, bursting with aromas of blackberries, currants, licorice, spices and creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, broad and fleshy, it's round and enveloping, with ripe acids and a rich, seamless profile. This is showing well out of the gates. This heavily morcellated estate (amounting to some 125 different parcels) is clearly benefitting from a more rigorous selection and better attention to detail regarding harvest dates.
Typically, the quintessential feminine side of Margaux is represented by
Prieure-Lichine-s 2011. Floral, raspberry, black cherry and currant notes
intermixed with spice box are present in this deep ruby/purple-colored effort.
The richness builds incrementally and becomes more impressive than it initially
seems. A well-made, supple-textured, delicious 2011, it is an undeniable
success for the vintage. Enjoy it over the next 15+ years.
Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2020 Prieure-Lichine offers up notes of fresh redcurrants, blackcurrant pastilles, boysenberries and dried Provence herbs, plus wafts of tobacco leaf and pencil shavings. Medium-bodied, the palate delivers a great intensity of pure black and red fruit flavors, framed by grainy tannins and a lively backbone, finishing long with a refreshing herbal lift.
